Reykjavik City Break

Itinerary :

Day 1: Reykjavik: Arrive at Reykjavik airport. Transfer to your hotel on your own. Rest of the time free to explore the city on your own. Overnight stay in Reykjavik.

Day 2: Reykjavik: After breakfast, proceed further for City Sightseeing. Reykjavik is affectionately called the Biggest Little City in the World. On this sightseeing tour, you will explore Reykjavik‘s top attractions, interesting facts, and stories that relate to history and culture in Iceland. The tour travels the greater Reykjavik area including surrounding municipalities which provides an excellent opportunity to discover various things to see or to do in Reykjavik during your stay in Iceland. On this tour, you will enjoy spectacular views from the platforms at Perlan, which is built on the city’s hot water tanks. You will see Reykjavik’s seafront to the old Hofdi house where the all-important summit between former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and former U.S.S.R. Secretary General Mikhail Gorbachev took place in 1986. You will then proceed to visit Hallgrimskirkja church whose design was inspired by basalt lava columns, a common volcanic rock formation in Icelandic nature. Last but not least you will explore the old town center with the Icelandic parliament Althingi and the town hall. Drop off after day tours may sometimes not be right in front of your hotel/guesthouse due to narrow streets and actual coach size used during the tour. Overnight stay in Reykjavik. (B)

Day 3: Reykjavik: After breakfast, proceed for the Golden Circle Classic (approx. 7.5 hours). The highlights of this tour are Thingvellir National Park, a remarkable historical and geological site, which is located by Lake Thingvallavatn, the largest lake in Iceland. The beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the meeting point of two of the earth’s tectonic plates. Furthermore, in this area, the oldest form of parliament had met since 930. Gullfoss, a two-tiered waterfall where you will see thousands of tons of icy water thunder majestically down into a deep canyon. Geysir geothermal area where bubbling hot springs and geysers are abundant. Here you’ll find Strokkur, the most active geyser in the area, spouting up to 25-30 meters every few minutes. Return back to the hotel at night. Overnight stay in Reykjavik. (B)

Day 4: Reykjavik: Breakfast at the hotel. Free time for leisure or shopping until transfer at the airport (not included). Depart to your final destination. (B)
